Product Update

Baumer has introduced the new IFRH series of inductive high temperature sensors for sensing applications exposed to temperatures from -25 degrees C to +180 degrees C. The sensors are available in M8, M12 and M18 designs with chromium nickel steel housings.

Intended for flush-face installation, the IP67-rated sensors are designed to detect the presence of metal targets. With an overall length of 30 mm, the M8 sensor is designed for use in limited-space applications. Depending upon the housing size, nominal switching distance ranges from 1.5 mm to 5 mm.

An FEP jacketed cable connects the sensor's temperature-sensitive processing electronics to the sensor head. The sensors provide an operating voltage range between 10 to 30 VDC.

The product is suitable for use in aerospace, automotive, marine, PCB fabrication, food and beverage processing, oil processing, laboratory automation, rubber and plastics fabrication, chemical processing, packaging, print/graphics, textile production and water treatment applications.

General Monitors has launched a new remote gas calibrator, viz., RGC-IR for the IR400 infrared point gas detector. The new product helps simplify the time-consuming process of performing combustible gas detector calibration tests and checks.

The unit makes it easier to calibrate remote mounted infrared gas detectors. The product allows users to test and calibrate the IR400 and also the IR2100, from a distance of 100 feet (31 metres).

The product does not affect sensor response, as evidenced by T50 response times of 6 - 7 seconds and T90 response times of 10 seconds. The unit is suitable for operation at maximum air velocities of 13 metres/second (30 miles/hour).

The product is easy-to-install and use. It does not require any electrical wiring or connectors.

The unit along with the IR400 gas detector is suitable for a wide range of applications such as drilling rigs, compressor stations and refineries.

Seiffert Industrial has launched Trummeter Pro belt tension meter to measure belt tension quickly and accurately. The new product displays a tension as well as detects if the tension is too high or too low. The unit is fitted with optional evaluation software, which allows to store and report measured values.

When a slight vibration is induced on the drive belt, the product detects the vibration and estimates the natural frequency of the belt assembly. Together with the belt mass and the length of the free belt strand, the trum force is calculated.

United Grinding has launched a new cylindrical grinder, viz., the Studer S242, for complete machining of shaft parts. The new product is designed for the hard turning and grinding of high-precision applications for both shaft and chucked workpieces including gear shafts, camshafts, turbocharger shafts and toolholders.

The machine features a modular design for quick setup and changeover, digital control and drive systems and user-friendly step-by-step programming.

A part can be fully machined with a single clamping. Depending upon the application, parts up to 1000 mm can be machined.

Maximum workpiece weight is 25 kg. A rigid longitudinal slide with two independently controlled cross slides for the tool holders enables short travels for combined machining.

The left cross slide holds the wheelhead, while the rotating tool turret with eight tool positions, with an optional four driven tools for milling and drilling, is fitted to the right-hand cross slide.

Danfoss Industries has launched the R-410A variable speed scroll compressor for commercial air conditioning and heat pumps. The new product, viz., the Apexx VSH series compressors, allows users to realize energy savings of more than 20 per cent.

The product is designed to maintain high isentropic efficiency at part load by continuously matching the load by operating from 30 Hz to 90 Hz. The balanced operation of the unit also helps reduce system stress.

The power factor of the product remains above 0.90, regardless of the load. Drive controller logic ensures a soft start that reduces inrush current and adds to energy savings.

The units provide comfort due to tight temperature control and the ability to cool or heat rapidly on demand by instantly increasing speed.

The product also provides significant noise reduction, particularly at part-load conditions. The other advantages provided by the compressor include new degree of control capability, varied capacity, built-in reliability, user-definable closed-loop PID capacity controller and  pack controller for hybrid units.

Polytech Filtration Systems has launched the KLW20 hydrocyclonic separator to remove fine granular solids from water-based machine tool coolants. The new product processes 20 gallons of coolant per minute and removes up to 75 pounds of solids per hour. The unit draws coolant from an existing sump separating fine solids from the coolant and returning clean and aerated coolant back to the sump.

The product uses kidney loop or side stream separation on an existing tank to extend and improve coolant performance.

In addition to removing solids, the machine entrains air into the low pressure zone in the centre of the whirling vortex and mixes it with the clean coolant to thoroughly aerate the coolant and eliminate anaerobic conditions that generate odour problems and cracked coolant emulsions.
